OTHER AWESONE AUTHORS

CJ "Country" James writes western romances that are more western than romance. Written in crisp, tight text, they have punch, panache and a real feel about them. Check out her books by clicking on the cover images.

Review of Through Better & Worse

This is a big R Romance, so you have an idea of how it turns out. What will surprise the hell out of you is how.

Not many books are perfect, but this one's darned close. Readers who are sticklers for details will be pleased.

This is not your bare-chested, sexy cowboy romance (though Jake ain't bad). Those are mere cotton candy representations of real ranch life and real ranch people. Author C.J. "Country" James knows the people she writes about far better than most.

...The pseudonymous James write[s] truly and honestly about the modern west...you can't go wrong reading or listening to her books.

Hint: Also look for E.J. Ruek's books "Old Hickory Lane" and "To Inherit a Murderer." A few more books are in the works.

Review of To Have & To Hold

Strap on your spurs and cinch down your saddle, you’re in for quite a ride. C.J. “Country” James captures ranch life with a clarity borne of one who has lived it. From Franklin, the strong head of a family ranch dynasty, to Jake who is trying to live up to his granddad’s lofty standards, to Dree a tough young woman with a troubled past and Catherine the light of hope with an equally dark past, her characters ring true. This is no “girly” romance, it is bigger than that. Set in western Montana, it explores the passions of a unique part of our American culture with all of its beauty, dangers, honor, and anger, we find a tale that is as real as it is wild. Be prepared, this book reads like a ringy horse rides... sometimes steady, sometimes frightening, it will run the gamut of your emotions. Written in tight, crisp prose it reads breakneck fast and leaves you wanting more. Don’t miss the experience!

Blade Holmes had it all. He was a living legend and still a young man. But he couldn't commit, not to a job, a place to call home, or to the love of his life. And now someone wanted him dead. Blade Holmes is at his best from Laramie City to Fort Laramie. History, adventure, mystery, this book has it all!

In addition to this book Mr. Waring has published a nonfiction book about the Civilian Conservation Corps and the building of Guernsey State Park. Also to his credit are two young readers, growing up books, Melvin the E Street Ghost, and, “Then Mike Said, There’s a Zombie in Our Basement.” Book two of this Blade Holmes’s trilogy, set in and near Laramie Peak, is scheduled to be released winter 2015.

Review of Fire Canoe Finnegan

FIRE CANOE FINNEGAN is an exquisite read on many levels: its dialogue is realistic, its history of the times and region is well-researched and vividly presented, and its action is well done. Any who relish Western themes and historical depth will appreciate the attention to detail that brings the era and setting of FIRE CANOE FINNEGAN to life in a read that is a gripping standout in both Western and historical novel genres. Review of A Gathering of Rebels

Enter an omni-verse of political deceit, intrigue and action. A Gathering of Rebels Vol. 1 has it all and it is filled with characters that are as diverse a combination of alien races as I have ever encountered in a sci-fi novel, yet they manifest universal qualities as complex as anyone would find here on Earth. Aeros delivers a highly believable plot, extraordinary character description and development that still allows the imagination to run wild.

The astute mind will recognize this as an allegorical novel with a gritty perspective and edge of the seat action that keeps you turning the pages. For me, it rivals the best of Heinlein, Bradbury and Asimov. Now on to Volume 2... can't wait to see where this tale goes!

THE STORY:
They were a gathering of rebels
Thrown together, not by happenstance,
But by design and intrigue—
The Ben Drom’s design
And the Cadre’s intrigue—
Except for one wild radical,
One unpredictable element,
Who threatened to undermine
The efforts of all sides involved,
and all because of one small minor—
A Syrene who belonged to
None other than the Ben Drom.

They were a gathering of rebels,
Fighting one another and themselves
In a clash of titans.
